Christmas this year was so much fun! Elly understood who Santa Claus was and Adalyn got more excited with every present she opened. We spent Christmas Eve at home and headed to Huntington on Christmas Day. We had a great time and really enjoyed our first Christmas in our house.

Jason's Bday

So I have pretty much sucked at blogging lately. It was just a little too hard with one hand and it seemed to take me FOREVER! Now that I have most of the use in my right arm back, typing is much easier. So Jason's birthday was September 7th and we had fun decorating (or attempting to with one arm). Elly thought the balloons and streamers were the coolest thing ever. Here are a few pictures of our fun party :)

Well....what a weekend! It started off with me getting in a car accident. A girl decided to flip an illegal u turn and didn't check her blind spot. She hit us and I am now left with a broken right arm. The girls were with me but were just fine. Elly got a few bruises and scratches from where the carseat straps were holding her. Adalyn was good. That was definitely a rough day. Well our car was totaled and I had surgery to have a metal plate and pins put in my arm. I am now on the road to recovery and I hope it goes fast cause I am going crazy not having both arms. Here is a pic of our car and then a pic of our new car! I love our new SUV!!! I got off of perkaset so I could drive it. I am a huge fan of the car!

The rest of the weekend didn't slow down much. I got in the accident on Friday and Adalyn's birthday was on Sunday (August 7th). We had family come and had a little party for her. She really enjoyed herself and we had a lot of fun. Here are pics of the weekend.

It seems like the summer hasn't been to crazy until the 4th of July hit. We went to Huntington and spent the 4th there. The next morning we dropped the girls off in Price and headed to the airport and flew to Vegas. This was my first time and it was as good as I thought it was going to be. It was so nice being able to just spend time with Jason. We had never left the girls with anyone so it was a little hard leaving them, but we knew they were in good hands. We were gone for two days (not very long I know, but it was a good start) and we came home and had Elly's birthday party the next day. Things are starting to slow down now and we are just enjoying having Jason home. He has had the last week and a half off and won't have to go back for another week. So things are finally starting to settle down in our lives. We are in our new house and we LOVE it! I love being in a house and feel like we are normal and stable. It's great. It's been a while.

So our computer decided to crash in September so it's been a while since I posted last. We have had a lot going on. There was Halloween, Adalyn's blessing, Thanksgiving, and buying a house! Elly and Adalyn keep me so very busy. They are both so demanding and want what they want right then. I need to teach both of them patience because neither one of them have any. Elly loves having Addy around and thinks that Addy can play with all of her toys. Addy LOVES Elly even when Elly is being mean to her. She just sits and smiles at Elly. It's so cute to watch them together. It makes me excited for Addy to get a little older so they can play together. Here are a few pictures of the girls :)

What we have been up to....

So, I typed up some stuff at the bottom but I can't figure out how to get it to the top, so enjoy the pictures first and then you can read the rest :)

I seriously love when this happens! It doesn't happen very often so I am REALLY excited :)

So it seems like Adalyn has always been part of our family and she has only been with us for 5 weeks. She is so completely opposite of Elly. She is much more even tempered (unless she is ready to eat and then we are in trouble) than Elly. Adalyn has been sleeping through the night since we brought her home and she only wakes up once maybe twice to eat. Elly never let us do that. We had to sit up and rock her and she never let us put her down. Elly is adjusting really well to having Adalyn at home. She loves "her baby" and always wants her around.

We did have a little scare when Adalyn was just about two weeks old. She wouldn't eat and kept moaning and groaning and I had no clue why. I kept feeling like I needed to take her to the doctor and boy was I glad that I did. When I got to the doctor, he took her temperature and asked me where my husband was. I told him in Salt Lake at work (I was in Provo because I just love this pediatrician I just can't stand to take my girls away so we commute there). He looked at me and told me he was going to have to admit her to the hospital. Well, I was an emotional wreck that day (I think I cried just about the whole day and I really don't know why, just post pregnancy and hormones going crazy) and I just started crying like crazy. He said he was going to have to run a whole bunch of tests on her and find out what was wrong. When we got to the hospital, they did so many freakin tests that I thought I was going to scream and finally the next morning some of the tests came back and she had viral meningitis (I am not quite sure how to spell it). She spent two days in the hospital and we finally were able to bring her home. We are still not sure how she got it because I am one of the most freakish people about washing your hands and not taking my babies out for a while after they are born. Her doctor said that it is out about his time of the year and that adults carry it not knowing they have it. The symptoms for an adult are just a really bad headache and sore neck. When we brought her home, we couldn't let Elly touch her in case she passed it on to her. It was a rough couple of weeks, but we made it through! Anyways, we are all doing well and Adalyn has seemed to make a full recovery.

Adalyn Brin Alger was born on Saturday at 12:56 pm weighing 8 lbs 14 oz and measuring at 20 inches long. She is a sweet baby and we are so glad that she is finally here!

So we celebrated Elly's birthday on the 10th and boy what a difference a year makes. She was so much more excited to open presents and to actually play with them. These first few pictures are just a few random ones, and then there are pics from her party.

We got Elly a bed for her birthday. She likes it, but I don't know if she really loves it yet. This picture was before she went to sleep and the next picture was when she was finally asleep. It's alot harder to keep her in a bed now. We lost all of our freedom that night. That was kind of sad :(

Last week, Jason had to go out of town for work and he brought back this really cute Hello Kitty Backpack. When he gave it to her, she yelled "Cute Bear!" (Everything right now is a bear to her haha). She was so excited to put it on. To go along with the backpack, she had to put on her sunglasses and necklace. She is such a girl! It seems like I just posted, but it has acutally been a really really long time! Wow! The months just seem to fly by. These are just a few pictures of Elly from the last month or so. She is getting such a little attitude and starting into the terrible two stage. It makes life so much fun :) She keeps us going all time and knows EXACTLY what she wants. It's fun and I think it's only going to get worse when the new baby gets here. I guess I am ready :)

She has been super attached to her blanket lately (she has three that she just loves). I always find her wrapped up in it with her clothes off and laying on our bed. She loves to be naked and takes her pants off every chance she can get. That pretty much sucks because I am getting a little sick of putting her pants back on all of the time. Oh well :)

She loves trains, but she really really didn't like the train that day. It took a lot to keep her on it. My sister Kaitlin had to jump on there with her (but I think Kaitlin was kind of excited to play on it haha).

I finally broke down and got her some sun glasses because she thought she had to wear mine all of the time (especially when her daddy gave them to her once and she never forgot it). She thinks she is pretty cool with them.

Elly has been obsessed with my glasses lately. Whenever I need them, I usually can't find them and I have to ask Elly to find them. The sad things is she always can. She just thinks she is so big and has to do everything like Mommy and Daddy. I painted my toe nails the other day, and all she kept saying was, "WOW Mommy!" and hasn't left them alone since. I painted her toe nails today and she couldn't quit smiling. It was pretty funny. Well here are a few pictures of Elly with my glasses on :)

Yesterday, I was at Wal Mart just looking around in the Valentine's isle and I came across some necklaces and bracelets. Well, I showed Elly and she literally started having a panic attack because she wanted them so bad. I figured what the heck and got them for her. When we got home, I had to get them out immediately because she was ready to put them on. I don't think she quit smiling for hours. She kept yelling "CUTE!" as so took them off and on. A little jewelry can make any girl happy (even if it is only like $2 haha). Here are some pictures of her all dressed up and loving every second of it :)

Well...all I can say is I can't believe Christmas is just in a few weeks. Wow where has the time gone? Anyways...Elly has been doing the funniest things lately. Here are just a few.

So this year for Halloween, we went to Huntington to go trick-or-treating. We had fun and we really enjoyed seeing the nieces and nephews in their costumes.

The Zoo!

So last Friday, Elly and I went to the Zoo with my mom's sister and her family. Elly had so much fun! She was so interested in the animals and the sounds they made. I have NEVER seen her sit so still in my life. Here are some fun pictures of our day :)

Look how cute the baby elephant is! She was born in August and so everything is still pretty new to her. In this picture, she was exploring and got stuck on the cement wall. She was so fun to watch and probably my favorite part of the zoo.

Here are some fun pictures of Elly playing at the park. We live really close to Murray Park so it is fun to go and hang out (especially when we need to get out of the house).

She loves the swings and she laughs so hard when she gets really close to me.

She is so focused when she plays. She has such a one track mind.

These are things that Elly has just figured out. She has decided that she likes to try to dress herself, pull EVERYTHING out of the cupboard in the bathroom, and crawl under things to find the smallest things. I just sit and laugh at her, which I might regret later because she thinks everything she does is SO cute. I am screwed! HELP! haha

The last few weeks have been crazy!

Since we moved, I feel like we have been running around with our heads cut off :).

We had to find clothes for Jason to start work with, get clothes for the reception (oh boy let me tell you how bad that sucked), Taylor got married, Jason left for San Jose 3 three days later, I went to Price to hang out, I came back to pick Jason up and then drop him off two days later, and then I went back to Price. When Jason came back, I came home and picked him up and then drove back to Price the next day for Taylor's open house in Price. Now Jason has started with Ernst and Young and I get to STAY HOME!!! I think of the teacher's that I worked with and I all I can think of is poor suckers....just kidding. I have got so much accomplished in the last two days it's amazing! My house is almost to the point to where I think it should be. It's fun. I will probably start to get bored in a couple weeks but I am over it. Well here are some pictures of us at the open house. I could not get Elly to smile with Jason. I don't know what her deal was. :)

I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. We had a baby, (July 10th), I finished my 2nd year of teaching, Jason graduated from BYU and will be starting with Ernst & Young in less than a week, and we have moved to Murray. All I have to say is WOW what a year. It's crazy how quickly life can change. It has been a great but very challenging year. I really got frustrated with having to take Elly all over creation, I had a class from you know where (but I loved them with all my heart), Jason had a freakin butt load of group projects and school assignments (and we thought this was suppose to be the easy year), and this last move just about killed us. I guess they say what is hard only makes you stronger (I know that is not how the saying goes, but oh well you know what I mean).

Well, Elly has definitely changed our lives for the good. I think is is funny how all of a sudden she knows how to squeal when she is mad and jumps up and down in her bed when she is really ticked. It's pretty funny but I can't let her see that I think it is funny! Anyways, here are pictures from her birthday party in Price and Huntington.

Fourth of July Weekend

For the Fourth of July, we first started off by going to the parade in Provo. We really enjoyed the parade and we were in the shade the whole time so it was REALLY good. After the parade, we went to Lehi to have a BBQ with some friends. Then went to the fireworks in Provo at Fox Field. Elly loved hanging out and really enjoyed seeing the fireworks. I think that was the most quiet I had heard her all day :). Here are a few pictures of us hanging out waiting for the fireworks to start.

On Sunday, we got up and got ready to head up on the mountain. We ended up going to Boulder Mountain (which is clear in the heck up there) and we were basically in the middle of nowhere, but we loved it! We had a great time hanging out with family and enjoying a break (I guess you could call it a break with Elly trying to get down and go crazy).

We decided to take the stroller because we knew that we would be doing a lot of fishing and walking to different lakes. We were walking down to the lake but the road was pretty rocky so Alyssa and Kaitlin decided this would be the best way to carry Elly. She like it :) She thought she was the princess (which she is)

Ok..so this was probably the funniest part of the trip. So Jason and Jenny (they are in the picture) decided they wanted to take someone elses canoe and go out into the middle of the lake and fish. Well, Jason made it in the canoe safely but as Jenny went to get in, she took her leg off of the log and went to put her other leg in the canoe and the canoe started to to move away from the log. She was doing the splits in between the log and the canoe. We laughed so hard! I felt bad but all I could do was laugh. *By the way she did not fall in. Jason helped her*
Elly's first ride on the 4 wheeler. She LOVED it. As soon as she got on, she went right to sleep. It was fun, but very difficult for me to hold on and keep her on at the same time.

So it's official! We are moving to Holladay! I have to say that I am kind of excited to move! I think that I am ready for a new adventure and ready to start brand new (including being home all the time). I am sad to leave Provo because I have made SO many friends through our ward and school. I think it will be exiting (but scary) but I am ready for the challenge. I just can't believe that another chapter in our lives is about to close and another one is about to begin. I have loved having Jason home all the time and Elly and I are really going to have a hard time when he has to start working. That is going to be here before I know it. He starts August 5th and I am afraid he is going to be very busy. I guess I will just have to get over it :) Anyways here are some fun pictures from the last few weeks.

So Jason, Elly, and I were driving back from Salt Lake last week and we got stuck in a horrible rain storm. As we got closer to the point of the mountain, this beautiful rainbow appeared. I have never seen one this bright before! We tried to get a good picture, but this was as good as it got.

In our front room, we have basket that we put all of Elly's toys in. I guess you could say that it is kind of deep. Elly is always bound and determined (surprise surprise) to get the stinkin toys out of the bottom of the basket. She is just a little too short to reach to the bottom. She has fallen in more than once head first (you will see in that in pictures to come). In these two pictures, she fell in head first but managed to turn herself the correct way. I know that I shouldn't laugh, but I really can't help it because it is so FREAKIN funny! She is quite the little girl and I think that I definitely have met my match with her. HELP! :)

Another week in the lives of the Alger's

So this past weekend, we went to Price and I was SO excited because I finally got my hair cut and colored again. Jenny (my sister) called it virgin hair because I had never had the whole thing colored before. Well this time I went big and no longer have virgin hair. Jenny did the bottom half of my hair a mocha color and then colored the top mocha and blond. I really like the way it turned out. Here is a picture of my hair (it looked better when Jenny styled it). *I took a picture with Elly because I hate taking pictures by myself.*

When we were hanging out in Price, we had a whole bunch of tissue paper and we thought Elly would have fun playing with all the paper. I don't think I have ever seen her so excited to play with all of that paper. It was pretty funny :)
The other day, I made the worst dinner ever and so Jason went to Little Caesar's and got a pizza because we just couldn't eat the other gross stuff. When Jason went to eat a piece, he pulled this massive sucker out. He said this is the biggest piece of pizza he has ever seen. I think he really enjoyed it.
When I was feeding Elly, she kept rubbing her eyes and got food all over her face. Of course she was still happy enough that she smiled for a picture.

Elly and I were shopping at Kohl's and I happened to look down at her and she was totally relaxed and enjoying herself (as you can tell in the picture). Here are pictures from both views.

My sisters thought it was hilarious to stick a little toy dolphin down Elly's shirt. I have to admit it was way funny. She really got into trying to find that dolphin.

The Month of May

So I can finally say I am a stay at home mom! I didn't think I would ever be able to say that. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED teaching, but right now I feel that it is my calling in life to be a stay at home mom. I have waited for this day all year long and now I am loving every minute of it (I might not say that in a month or so just kidding). Here are just a bunch of random pics that we took since Jason graduated. Oh yeah, through out the month of May, Jason got to be the stay at home dad and he did such a good job. Elly loves her daddy so much and it was such a good thing for him to spend one on one time with him. I don't think I could ask for a better husband :). Anyways here are some pics....

Here are two of my favorite people. In the purple we have Tracy and in the red we have Jami. I taught 2nd grade with them for the last two years. We seriously had so much fun together. We took a picture of us with our babies. (The baby that Tracy is holding is actually not hers. This baby belongs to another teacher at the school. Tracy is pregnant with her own and is due in December. We thought it would be fun to "pretend" this is hers.) At our school there have been 16 new additions or expecting mothers. We all got together and took a picture for the newspaper. It was fun to see all of the cute babies. I can't wait to see the rest. :)

Jason has finally graduated! It seems like it has taken forever for this day to come. He graduated yesterday with a bachelors and masters in Accounting. He already has a job and now we have the fun and exciting life of packing a house and my classroom (my classroom will definitely be first). Life will be less stressful now that Jason is done because now he will get to stay home with Elly all day. I think he is truly looking forward to being home with her (and secretly I think Elly is excited too because she is such a daddy's girl). Here are some pics of our fun day!

Hooray for Spring!

I am so happy that Spring is finally here! I really hope that it does not snow anymore or I will be kind of ticked! Anyways, Elly and I were outside pulling weeds today and she was obsessed with this blasted flower! Here are the pictures as she was trying to get the flower!

In the end, Elly did reach the flower. I had to move her because she was trying to eat it. I didn't think that would be very good.

One More Month Gone

I can't believe how quickly each month has gone by. Elly has learned so many new tricks with many more to come. She pulls her self up to anything and everything. She patty cakes and claps for herself (that is one that I have not been able to get a pic of yet because it has to be on her time), and she follows me around the house and cries when I leave the room. She has become so attached. I also can't believe how quickly she is growing. She is 8 months and before I know it, she will be a year old. I pulled this toy out the other day and the next thing I knew she was standing up to it. I was a little scared because it is not very sturdy. She was so excited to be standing there.

I have a feeling it won't be very long before she starts walking.

My grandma calls Elly her "little ray of sunshine" when she wears this outfit. I thought it was a cute way to describe her.

Elly will do anything to get her daddy's attention. She loves to stand up to him and try to get him to stop working on his homework. She usually does. She definitely has him figured out :)

I had parent teacher conferences and I was working on putting things together. It was more than Elly could handle because she kept climbing up and trying to rip all of the papers out of my binder. I think getting everything done took me twice as long. *Notice her binky is upside down. This absolutely kills me. It doesn't even phase her that it's upside down*

Elly was playing with her doll. She likes to pull their hair and throw them around a little bit. I have been trying to get her to love the baby but I have not had very much success.

The Month of February

So....it has been a while since I updated this. It has been such a crazy month and so much has happened. Elly has learned how to crawl and is now into EVERYTHING! I always thought that we wouldn't have to baby proof that much but boy was I wrong. Here are some of the fun things that she learned how to do.

Elly pulled herself up to the couch and then freaked out because she couldn't get down. I was trying to get ready for school and then I heard her cry. I went into the front room and this was how I found her.
After a long day of playing, she really can sit still and relax. Thank goodness for small favors.

A Few New Tricks

Everyday Elly seems to learn something new. For example, I thought that instead of carrying her into the store in her car seat, I would try and see if she would like to sit in the cart. Well that was definitely a dumb question! She loved it! She was able to see everything and try and grab things (which she was successful at a few times). Our trip to the Dollar Tree was very successful and we made it through with out her getting upset. :) While I was driving the other day I looked back in the mirror and I saw Elly's head poking out of the seat cover that goes over her car seat. She figured out that if she sticks her head through the hole, she can look around better. Elly likes to know EVERYTHING that is going on. This was how I found her when I got out of the car to take her inside. She thought it was pretty funny :)

One More Big Moment in our lives!

Elly finally sleeps in her own bed!!! It's a miracle. We have been waiting for this now for a few months. She needs a big bed to sprawl out in instead of her bassinet. She does not like to be trapped. The only problem is that I hate having her in another room. That has been tricky and I find myself worried and checking on her all night, but it is worth it. Doesn't she look so peaceful :)

Solid Foods Here We Come!

So honestly, I can't believe it is time for Elly to start eating big people food (well at least the baby kind). So last night was our first experience trying rice ceral and prunes. It was quite an experience. She really liked it at first, but after 5 or 6 bites she had had enough. She started gagging and had a really sour look on her face (as you can see haha). I hope that she will eat it again tonight and enjoy it a little more. Let's hope :)

This was Christmas morning. We were so tired because Elly didn't go to bed until 1:00 am. It just about kicked both of our butts.

Jason is a huge Vikings fan. He got this shirt for Christmas and he is very excited to wear it since the Vikings made the plays offs. He is one happy boy :)

So, I hope that you all had a Merry Christmas. We did. This was our picture that we took on Christmas day. Elly was not in a great mood as you can tell :). I think that being away from home really makes life hard for her. We were in Price this year, and we got snowed in as you can tell from all of the snow in the background.

So, I am definately new to this and I think that I will get better as time goes on how to run this thing. I also think I will get better at updating this when I am done teaching 2nd grade. Don't get me wrong, I love teaching and I love the kids in my class, but it has been really hard to be a mom and teach full time. I will be done in May because Jason will FINALLY be done with school. All I have to say is that I will be CELEBRATING when I get to stay home. It has been really hard leaving Elly everyday and taking her to different places. I feel like I am missing all the little things she learns how to do everyday. I am always glad to come home and get her. I am especially excited when she starts smiling at me. I know that she knows who I am. I do have to say that is the highlight of my life.

Ok...enough about that...I can't believe Christmas is right around the corner and Elly is 5 months old. It takes so long for babies to get here and then they grow up so quick. I am excited for the Christmas break first of all for a break from my kids at school and second some much needed rest and relaxation. It will be a good break.
